Garden Smokehouse and Barbecue: Bricks and Mortar by Zone

Vitcas firebricks for suitable appliance hot sections

A combined smokehouse and barbecue construction can use similar products, but the conditions of both zones are not identical. The hearth, smoke path, and food preparation area require their own description. Choose materials for these functions before connecting the devices with a single finish.

Draw the path of fire and operation

Mark hot surfaces, equipment supports, and cleaning channels. Add workspace for tools and a place to set down parts. Operating the barbecue should not accidentally block access to the smokehouse chamber.

Select Vitcas refractory bricks according to the contact and load of a specific section. The wall format does not have to be suitable for supporting a grate or another detail. In the food area, also check surface and cleaning requirements.

Connections should correspond to the exposure

Outdoor Oven Cement has described applications in external refractory connections. The geometry of joints and brick preparation follow the instructions. A dry day does not allow neglecting protection of fresh work from subsequent precipitation.

Vermiculite board serves a separate insulating function in the described internal or protected conditions. Do not choose it as any exposed garden surface. Selection should consider the actual water path and support.

Maintain access after completion

Check the removal of equipment and debris before closing the enclosure. The shared shelf should not block the inspection point of the most heated connections. Each zone needs its own cleaning possibility according to the solution.

Record the product and role for each part of the drawing. Keep photographs of the ducts before covering them. During later repairs, you will recreate the function of a specific part, instead of using leftover material from a neighbouring device just because both were built in the same enclosure.
