Vitcas Casa and a Balcony: Assess the Complete Weight

Compact Vitcas Casa outdoor oven

A compact pizza oven may take up little space, but it still has significant weight. Before considering a balcony, the entire setup and permissible device conditions must be evaluated. Calling the oven small does not provide information about the load-bearing capacity of the balcony slab or the suitability of a specific location.

Count more than just the chamber

The Vitcas Casa data sheet gives the oven weight as 150 kg. It consists of six parts, but the division facilitating assembly does not reduce the weight of the finished device. To assess the location, the base, finishing, and equipment must be added.

The load distribution depends on the surface and the method of support. Do not calculate the balcony's permissible load by yourself based on the average weight divided by its entire area. An assessment of the specific structure and arrangement method is required.

Insulation does not confirm load-bearing capacity

Vitcas ceramic fibre board can create an insulating layer in a properly supported layout. The selection includes the geometry and load of the layer. Its maximum temperature does not describe the strength of the balcony structure or an accidental base.

Mark all layers between the oven and the structure. Each should have a defined function and proper support. Do not transfer the parameters of a single product to the entire assembly just because the products come from the same manufacturer.

Also check the surroundings of the oven

Casa is an outdoor oven intended for outdoor use. This does not automatically confirm placement on any balcony. Check the requirements for the device, adjacent materials, flue gas exhaust, and handling possibilities.

Consider the roof, glazing, and future changes to the structure. If the location does not meet the requirements, choose another place. Assessment of the complete setup should precede the purchase and transport of the components; adding insulation later does not resolve earlier questions about weight and usage conditions.
